AssistList has a mission to provide a safe, easy-to-use, free community resource to support the Greater Vancouver community. In pursuing its goals, AssistList serves the interests of individuals with disabilities who are in need of home health equipment, and others who no longer need the home health equipment they own. In delivering programs to the community, team members work with each other and the public at large. The following Code of Conduct is designed to allow AssistList to preserve its long tradition of integrity and credibility with the public and within our society.
As an AssistList team member, you will:
Always act with fairness, honesty, integrity and openness; respect the opinions of others and treat all with equality and dignity without regard to gender, race, colour, creed, ancestry, place of origin, political beliefs, religion, marital status, disability, age, or sexual orientation
Promote the mission and objectives of AssistList while working for AssistList
Provide a positive and valued experience to others within and outside of AssistList’s environment
As an AssistList team member, you can expect the following:

To receive assignments that engage your skills, interests and experience
To receive guidance and training for your specific role

Approach your role with enthusiasm, honesty and an open mind
Ask questions to ensure that you understand a role or task before accepting it
Carry out your tasks efficiently and effectively, take responsibility for your actions and decisions, and ask for help when you need it
Notify one of the Team Managers as soon as possible if you are no longer able to work with AssistList
Conflict of interest arises when a person participates in a decision about a matter (including any contract or arrangement of employment, leasing, sale or provision of goods and services) which may benefit or be seen to benefit that person because of his/her direct or indirect monetary or financial interests affected by or involved in that matter.
In the event that such a matter arises, it is the duty of any person taking part in the conflict of interest to formally disclose the interest, refrain from attempting to persuade or influence other persons participating in the decision, and not cast any vote on the matter.
Respect and maintain the confidentiality of information gained as a team member, including, but not limited to:
Technology records, such as software plans, design, source code, and third-party account credentials
Business documents, such as documents and records on operations, marketing, software development, accounting, and other proprietary information
Personal information about individuals gained through your role at AssistList, such as records on team members, donors and supporters
Confidential information disclosed via meetings, website data, Community Partners, or a third party
The team member will not divulge, reveal, report, replicate or use confidential information from AssistList without approval, and if there is any question as to such disclosure, the team member will seek out a Director for clarification.
In the case that confidential information has been disclosed without approval, the team member will immediately notify a Director and take all reasonable steps necessary to retrieve the lost or improperly disclosed confidential information.
Any intellectual property developed by a team member in the course of his or her role with AssistList (e.g. source code, training resources, promotional materials) is the property of AssistList.
All AssistList team members are covered through AssistList's general liability policy.
Paid employees are also covered under Workers Compensation Board (WCB) insurance. It is important to understand that volunteers are not paid employees, and are therefore do not receive WCB insurance coverage.
